This is my original pen and ink drawing "The Odyssey" (2019) printed as a 16 x 12 inch Giclée reproduction on Hahnemühle German Etching paper with its subtle texture and just a hint of warmth.
This piece was created with technical pens and is bursting with detail, totalling over 35 hours work from concept to finish.
The idea for this came to me while I was watching my cat sleeping and I was pondering what cats dream about... As I began to work more spontaneously in some areas, adding elements and removing others, it started to become more about personal transformation. Some of the symbolism within the image includes the cat collar, representing the shedding of ego and concept ownership, while the milk is a metaphor for the river of life and the fluidity that we must embrace to have inner harmony.
However, I will leave some elements a mystery for you to interpret in a way that makes sense to you. Who is the mouse and why is he there?
Important framing/mounting advice
Whether you're framing with or without a mount, please note that the artwork has a slightly variegated white border of around 3-8mm on all sides, rather than a straight edge - visible in the first image.
If framing with a mount, I recommend a frame size of 20x16" with a 16x12" mount - this gives a very slight overlap - just enough to keep the image in place, though you may also want to affix a little tape to the back. Prints can be ordered with a larger border or on larger paper if required. Please drop me an email with your requirements.
Please note: frame and accessories are excluded. Photos are for illustrative purposes only
