About Me

"Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better." - Albert Einstein

I'm Louise and I'm a self-taught travelling ink artist and illustrator, specialising in detailed drawings and linoprints for lovers of all things wild and whimsical.

The natural world is my passion. Most of my inspiration comes from forests, though fungi and felines always get me excited! My mum had 10 cats at her peak while I was growing up, so I've always felt a strong connection with these mysterious, independent and beautiful animals.

You may have already noticed mushrooms, and lots of them. My fungi love-affair began after studying permaculture and volunteering on a mushroom farm. These intriguing organisms continue to fascinate me to the point that I've also grown my own and written a short book (sign up to my newsletter if you haven't already and I'll send it right over)!

I love to create detailed artwork and have immense respect for any craft requiring intense focus and patience - qualities that we're losing faster than ever in this digital era. I love to zone in on individual small areas, like I'm looking in with a magnifying glass. By purposefully slowing right down, drawing allows me to practice being mindful and gives me a calm and quiet internal space.

My goal is to arouse a sense of curiosity and delight with my art. Hearing that my work has transported someone to a favourite fairytale book from their youth, or when they have been out walking and spotted a mushroom that sparked a memory of one of my drawings, is a truly fantastic feeling. There is wonder and beauty everywhere when we really open our senses!
